There are just so many puppies waiting for homes at the Riverside County Animal Shelter, and Poseidon is just one of the most precious lives we hope can be saved by telling his story.
Sadly, his story is like so many others. A family fell in love with a gorgeous puppy and brought him home. It wasn’t long before they realized puppies are not born trained. They need to be housetrained, they need to be taught manners and not to chew everything they see, and they need to be properly socialized.
We can only assume, Poseidon’s family didn’t want to put the time into his training, and at seven months of age, this beautiful German Shepherd was surrendered to the shelter. Because of severe overcrowding in the shelters, even the most beautiful, the best trained and the quiet seniors are subject to humane euthanasia. Today, we are asking for everyone to share Poseidon’s plight.
Isn’t he just stunning?

Poseidon is not doing well in the shelter environment. His notes explain:
code red: behavior declining in kennel environment…
Poseidon was given a deadline, but it is hoped he has been given an extension. He is still listed as available to be adopted.
