In Palm Beach County, Florida three dogs now named Pirata, Nano and Chispa are recovering and receiving the care they need at Big Dog Ranch. According to authorities, the dogs had been tied to the bumper of the owner’s truck when he stopped to use the lavatory and then forgot the dogs were there as he drove away.
It had been a witness who recorded Lorenzo Franco-Alcocer, 40, driving away at approximately 20 m.p.h. with the dogs desperately trying to run and keep up. When stopped and confronted, Alcocer allegedly took the dogs home and did not seek veterinarian help for their injuries.
Deputies later found the dogs locked in a crate at his home whimpering in pain and licking their injured paws.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Franco-Alcocer, 40, was arrested on April 22, after witnesses called authorities after spotting the dogs behind his silver Chevrolet pickup truck.
The dogs suffered cuts and abrasions. One of the dogs is missing the skin on his paw pads, but they are recovering and doing well. The dogs will be available for adoption once they are feeling better.
As for Alcocer, he was released from jail the same day after posting a $7,500 bond. He has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
