In a heartbreaking discovery by Beaumont Animal Care on Saturday, a mother dog and her puppies were found abandoned in a crate. The shelter had been seeking rescue assistance; ThisIsHouston stepped up without hesitation.

When discovered, the mother, along with only one puppy, dubbed Jingle had survived. Estimated to be between 10 to 14 days old, Jingle’s short life has been filled with heartbreak. He spent his first few days of life locked in a urine and feces filled crate; his siblings dying one by one. His tiny body, covered with urine burns, had been suffering from seizures.

Jingle was rushed to Vergi 24/7. The puppy’s mother, Joy has had an equally devastating experience. She weighs 25 pounds and is in such poor condition, she is not able to produce milk for her last surviving puppy. Her skin was also covered in urine scalding burns. Yet, despite all that Joy has endured, the shelter staff states she remains very sweet and loving.

Joy has been placed in a separate foster home through the shelter. ThisIsHouston will be making arrangements to bring Joy into their care this week.

Joy and Jingle are hoping for a Christmas miracle.

Right now, baby Jingle needs all the positive vibes, support, prayers, whatever can be offered. He’s in great hands at the ER and we’ll have a medical update posted soon.
These two are part of a cruelty case, and there currently is an active investigation.
