Sophie had the most heartbreaking goodbye with her bonded person this week. Her story isn’t just about rescue; her story encompasses love, loss and the deep heartbreak of a dog who doesn’t understand why her world suddenly changed.

Sweet Sophie had her person; her gentle, loving momma adored her. They were a perfect pair. The two found comfort in each other. They were always together, and that was just fine. But then, beyond her mom’s control, she had to move into a retirement home and could not bring Sophie with her.
She had to say goodbye… forever.

When her foster mom arrived to take Sophie to her temporary home and to say her final goodbye, she put Sophie into her vehicle. The dog wagged her tail, trying to be brave.
But as they drove away, her kind foster softly said,
Don’t worry, little Sophie… we’re gonna find you a new momma.
The second Sophie heard the word “Momma”, she looked out the window and began to howl — long, aching cries, like she was calling out for the one person she would never see again. She knew the word “momma.” It shattered her foster’s heart into a thousand pieces.
Now Sophie waits. Her bed feels empty because she slept with her momma every night. Her eyes search every face she encounters, hoping one of them might be her beloved best friend.
Sophie doesn’t need much; she just needs someone with a kind heart, a warm lap and gentle hands; someone who will tell her it’s okay to love again.
Originally adopted from Bambi’s Army Rescue of K9S, she is now five years old. She does not really care about cats. Her foster home has cats and other dogs, and she’s fine with them, but she has to be alone when she eats, since she doesn’t know much about sharing and will fight with the other pets. She was raised as an only pet and never learned how to share, which includes her mom, her food, her bed and her toys.

I am adding the application form here:
If you have room in your heart, please consider adopting Sophie. She’s not just another rescue; she’s a soul who lost her home and only momma and is still waiting to be found again.
Message us to meet Sophie. Let’s show her that love always finds its way home.
