What a stressful last few weeks Dexter has had to live through; he is currently in a kennel at the Greenville Animal Shelter in Greenville, Texas. He has lost everything and everyone he has ever loved. Now he cries in his kennel and breaks the hearts of the staff and volunteers.

Seven-year-old Dexter’s story is certainly not unique, but it’s his story, and he was surrendered to the shelter with his bonded brother Bailey the evening before Thanksgiving when their owner passed away. The family who surrendered the dog to the shelter said the two dogs had been closely bonded and inseparable and hoped someone would adopt them together.
A few days later Bailey disappeared, and Dexter was left behind.
Bailey may have been adopted, but what we do know for sure is that Dexter has been completely broken since then.
Sadly, Dexter has since been trembling in his kennel. He cries and searches everyone’s face as they walk by, as if he is begging them not to leave him too. He no longer has the opportunity to run, play or feel grass under his paws because the shelter does not have a play yard.

Instead Dexter spent Thanksgiving in his kennel and now Christmas too. He is alone, grieving, terrified and so confused.
Dexter is running out of time. Please share his story and help to rewrite it with one of companionship, love and a new life.

Dexter is described as a Rottweiler blend who is sweet, gentle, housetrained and gets along fine with other dogs, cats and children. He just needs out of the shelter; we want him to have a positive exit with a family or a rescue who will make sure he finds love and companionship again.
Please share his plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
