An emotional story involving a devoted owner’s love for his dog quickly went viral. In Southern California, Enrique faced a difficult decision earlier this month. The mixed breed, loveable pooch named Scooter had to be separated from his beloved dad; not because Enrique wanted to leave Scooter; the two lived in a car, and maybe it wasn’t much, but they loved each other and did the best they could.
Then an unexpected medical emergency required Enrique to drive himself to the hospital and be admitted in the critical care unit.
Scooter waited patiently in the hospital parking lot for his dad to return. The hospital staff knew about the dog, and checked in on him regularly to make sure he was walked, watered and fed until OC Animal Care could pick him up.
The hospital staff also reached out to Frosted Faces Foundation for help.
Frosted Faces reached out to Enrique’s fiance and OC Animal Care throughout the week. It was time; Scooter’s time was running out at the shelter, and something had to be done. Sadly, Enrique had suffered a stroke and would not be able to care for his dog in a reasonable time period.
It was time for a plan:
We set a plan in action and today, volunteer Christina Orlovsky transported Scooter to us! Scooter is a happy little meatball, and we already love him! Unfortunately, he has a pretty bad respiratory infection now, so you will find him in quarantine for a little while on some good meds.
Scooter is now receiving the care he needs, and Enrique can concentrate on his recovery.
There are so many people to thank, and we want to make sure everyone thinks the entire team is just amazing.
The staff all have Enrique’s number to stay in touch and send updates about his boy, too! He is a genuinely loveable pooch who remains in good spirits.
