In Arkansas, a desperate owner speeding through a red light trying to rush her dying dog to the emergency veterinarian, was stopped by a state trooper and arrested.

The unnamed woman’s dog had been struck by a car on July 14. In dashcam footage from Trooper Holly Romero, the woman was seen speeding through an intersection.

The trooper pursued the vehicle along the highway until they stopped in front of the veterinarian’s office. The trooper stepped out of her patrol vehicle and approached the woman – who explained the condition of her dog and how important it was to get him to an emergency veterinarian for possible life saving treatment.

The dog passed away before he could get treatment.

As Trooper Romero handcuffed the woman, she asked:

You’re going to cut off traffic because your dog is dying?

The video has since gone viral with many people expressing outrage at the trooper’s actions. A petition on Change.org has garnered nearly 80,000 signatures to investigate and fire Romero.

  1. Astonishing lack of compassion for this woman and her dog. It’s completely unacceptable.

We had a similar situation in our neighborhood a few years ago. The man received a ticket but he also had an officer escort him to the veterinary hospital and once the dog was taken to the emergency vet, then he got his speeding ticket.

The officer here could have been compassionate and done the same. That poor dog died in pain and fear thanks to this horrible, cruel officer.
