In San Antonio, Texas, it took nine months of specialized care to help a coyote regain his health and his ability to run, jump and be released back into the wild.
According to Austin Wildlife Rescue, the adult coyote arrived with a dislocated wrist and several broken toes after being hit by a car and not able to walk. A veterinarian used a metal plate to fuse the bones, allowing the wrist to heal he could resume his normal behaviors.
After X-rays, veterinarian Dr. Matthews decided to use a metal plate to fuse the bones together. The wrist would then heal in a way to allow the coyote to run and jump; survival prerequisites for its survival.
