The Animal Medical Center of Fort Oglethorpe in Walker County, Georgia is currently asking for community help raising funds to help find a rescue organization for a sweet dog named Roxy.
According to the Walker County Government, two local residents face animal cruelty charges after trying to have Roxy euthanized by a local veterinarian. On Monday, March 19, authorities responded to the veterinarian center when they alerted authorities of a possible animal cruelty situation.

Anthony Griggs, 44, and Crystal Spring Branch, 42, told the veterinarians and staff Roxy had not been eating for the past five months, but they had not taken her to a vet for any treatment or diagnosis until requesting euthanasia this week. No doubt, Roxy appeared emaciated and was unable to walk because of severe malnourishment. The staff also noted signs of neglect; overgrown fingernails, sores and wounds on her body. Tests for underlying medical conditions came back negative.
Another dog in the home did not show any signs of neglect.
At this time the veterinary center is raising funds to help Roxy. Since she requires around the clock care, a qualified rescue organization with the needed experience would be ideal.
Both Griggs and Branch face a charge of felony aggravated animal cruelty. If convicted the punishment could include a fine of up to $15,000 and/or 1-5 years in prison.
