Saturday was a lucky afternoon for a stranded dog in a drainpipe on the Chicago River. A person who had been on board a boat in the river, spotted the dog named Faroe in the drainpipe near the Harrison Street Bridge and called police for help.

The Chicago Police Department dispatched their Marine Unit to rescue the dog. The Marine Unit had been out patrolling the river and quickly responded to the dog’s plight.
Faroe’s owner, Brandon Hilliard, who had adopted the dog last year, had already been searching for his pooch in the community. When he heard the report of a stranded dog that matched Faroe’s description, he knew it was Faroe, who had gone missing earlier in the day.

The Marine Unit were then able to contact Brandon who boarded the boat to locate Faroe. After the dog was spotted, a Marine Unit diver went into the water to retrieve the dog. Although Faroe did seem hesitant and frightened, after hearing her owner calling her and hearing one of her favorite squeaky toys, she soon cooperated and boarded the boat.

It was a heartwarming reunion when she was reunited with Brandon.

And might we add the Marine Unit diver was able to save Faroe’s favorite squeaky toy also.
