In Raleigh, North Carolina, a fairytale ending came true for a 92-year-old man and his 13-year-old blind Yorkshire terrier, named Denim. The two had been inseparable for the last ten years. And now, it had been two weeks since the elderly man had last seen his dog, but what a magical moment the reunion had been for the family when Denim came home.
The blind Yorkie, Denim had accidentally wandered off last month because of a broken screen door. The family had recently relocated to Raleigh, and the dog was not accustomed to his new home.

Luckily, he was picked up by the Wake County SPCA. Everyone at the rescue had been heartbroken when the dog was found; surely he needed to be in a home where he could enjoy whatever time he had left.
But what happened? Was he abandoned or did he get lost? After all, he was blind, and that could be a challenge if the senior pup had become disoriented or wandered away.
Fortunately, the dog’s family had been looking for him. They had called the nearby shelters and contacted rescues in the area inquiring about their lost, beloved Denim.
These two had spent over a decade together, sleeping side by side every night. Thanks to a little teamwork and a lot of hope, we were able to reunite them. The moment was as sweet as you’d imagine.
Denim had been at a foster home while his family had been searching for him, and although he was receiving the best of care, his little ears and body language perked up when he heard one of the family members arrive at the shelter to take him home.

Although the elderly man was not able to make the trip to the rescue, he was overjoyed when Denim arrived home. An addition to the family, a dog named Hermes had recently arrived to keep the man company, but now it’s double fun; Denim is home and a new pooch is there to make the family complete.
