11 puppies abandoned outside animal shelter in freezing weather rescued by staff member

The weather in Regina, SK, Canada has been frightful with temperatures recently registering at -11 C. Still, unknown heartless owners thought little of the welfare of 11 puppies, no more than seven weeks of age, when they abandoned the defenseless little ones in a plastic tote container and left them outside the door of the Regina Humane Society last Monday.

Abandoning in freezing temperatures is not only inhumane, it is a violation of the Animal Protection Act of Saskatchewan

The puppies had been shivering as they huddled next to and on top of each other, trying their best to stay warm. Bill Thorne, the marketing director for the rescue, said it was likely the size of the litter that had helped them to stay warm enough to survive. Had there only been one or two puppies, they would not have been able to stay warm.

The staff member immediately brought the puppies inside, and they are being kept warm and content while being carefully monitored. Some of the puppies are being treated for worms, but have generally been deemed to be in good health.

The puppies seem to be shepherd blends and are expected to be medium sized when full grown.

And now for the adorable part – these adorable little fluff balls have been named after songs. So let’s introduce “Jolene” after Dolly Parton’s song. Then there’s “Billy Jean” after Michael Jackson’s song, and Mr. Bojangles and “Eleanor Rigby” by The Beatles,

The puppies will soon be ready for adoption. For more information, contact the Regina Humane Society.
