Last Sunday had been a terrible day for Milli, a pretty but frightened cocker spaniel in Houston, Texas. Fortunately, all was not lost. It was Dallas Dog -Rescue.Rehab.Reform who rushed to her aid.

Milli’s owner had been stopped for a traffic violation, and while police had been responding to the call, there was Milli, shaking from fear and excess heat in the back seat of the vehicle. Her owner had been evading the police and had warrants out for her arrest. It was determined that Millie’s owner could no longer care for her dog, and Milli was sent to the shelter.

One can only imagine the additional fear Milli must have experienced when animal control officers needed to use a catch pole to remove her from the car.
It was obvious Milli just had given birth to puppies or had been pregnant. After charges were filed against the dog’s owner, and she surrendered Milli to the shelter, the scared dog was transported to Dallas to the rescue organization.
It was not long after Millie arrived, that Dallas Dog RRR were told someone in the same area where Milli had been seized from the abandoned vehicle, had been selling cocker spaniel puppies.

We knew it must be them and couldn’t let them go. the seller wanted milli back and refused to surrender the puppies initially. with much convincing. we managed to buy the puppies for $150 each.
It is not the custom for the rescue to buy puppies, but this was an emergency. The person selling the puppies had allegedly sold one for $5.00 for a “fix.” The rescue paid $400 for the three puppies. The seller said he might be able to get the other puppy back. Unfortunately, the seller was not interested in selling the male dog, but contacts are staying in touch.

This was truly an emergency to save the lives of these three puppies. The animal control officer in this jurisdiction was not able to help.
The puppies will be spayed, neutered and vaccinated. Sometimes, the unusual circumstances call for stepping out to help. The puppies will arrive on Monday.
