In Burlington County, New Jersey, Mike Motta had been performing his daily duties for the Burlington County Regional Recycling Program on July 8 when he spotted a tiny kitten covered in oil in the waste compactor. Motta immediately sprung into action.

Mike Motta wrote on Facebook:

I work for a recycling company and went to check my hydraulics and saw the kitten pinned in the back of the recycling truck’s rasher covered in oil.

So I shut everything off and climbed in the back of the truck to get her.

Rise Again Animal Rescue is caring for the kitten now named Squishy. She is being fostered by another employee of the Burlington County Regional Recycling Program.

Squishy is now well on her way to having a charming future. Just recently she returned to visit her hero Mike Motta, and who couldn’t smile wide just watching the two together. Great work Mike!
