A handsome young six-year-old, sporting a head full of red hair, from Minnesota has been facing the fight of his young life after having been diagnosed with leukemia. Eli is from the small town of Viking, and he dreamed about a dog of his own; this particular dog would be a German shepherd, and let us tell you why he had wanted this specific breed.

According to Make-A-Wish Minnesota and Pet Evolution St. Cloud, Eli is determined to grow up to be a SWAT team police officer with his own police dog partner – hence a German shepherd as one of the most popular breeds involved in police service.

And on August 16, Eli’s wish was granted:
WISH GRANTED: 6-year-old Eli wished for a German Shepherd puppy because when he grows up he wants to be part of the SWAT team and work with police dogs. Yesterday, his wish came true with the help of Pet Evolution in St. Cloud, who provided him a chance to shop for all the essentials for his new furry best friend, Angel! Even some friends from the Waite Park Police Department, MN K-9 Unit joined in the excitement. We can’t wait to see Eli and Angel grow up together! #WishGranted
Eli has named the puppy Angel. And in addition to the best gift anyone could ever receive, Pet Evolution also gave Angel a $600 gift certificate to use for toys, food and supplies needed to take an active puppy home.

The generosity of people didn’t stop there either; police officers from St. Cloud and Waite Park, along with their police K9s arrived to meet Eli and Angel.

Fortunately, most childhood leukemias have a high remission rate. We are hoping for the same outcome for this perfect child with such a beautiful smile and huge heart. Get well soon Eli.
