At the City of San Bernardino Animal Services in California, nine weeks ago, River was born. Weeks later, when he opened his eyes, all he saw were the bars in front of the kennel he shared with his mother. Fortunately, his mom, Coco, was lucky; last week she was rescued just in time after having been placed on the euthanasia list.
As part of the City of San Bernadino Animal Services’ temporary foster program, River, the German shepherd mix has been cared for out of the shelter, and now has been made available for adoption.
The puppy’s advocate describes this innocent little guy who deserves more than a small shelter kennel:

River sits on a cozy couch, tilting his head in innocent curiosity. His bright eyes and oversized ears capture the playful spirit of a young puppy, yet his story is filled with uncertainty.
River needs a home where he can learn, love and enjoy life. Unfortunately, time is ticking, and the shelter is overcrowded. Sadly, it is a sad fact that even the youngest puppies will never grow up; there are simply too many dogs and not enough foster parents or people who are ready to adopt.
If you are in the area of San Bernardino, please make arrangements to come and visit some of the wonderful dogs and puppies at the shelter. Please visit with River – he is waiting for you. Please share his plight with friends, family, approved rescue organizations and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
