At the Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles, two senior German shepherds are heartbroken and confused. The loyal senior pups stayed with their owner who passed away in her room for five days until someone came to the home and found the woman and her dogs.
Ziggy, 9.5 years of age, and Bowie, 10.5 years, have had their entire world turned upside down. Their owner, a 54-year-old woman died unexpectedly, and she also had been caring for four other dogs that had been left in crates. Fortunately, all of the dogs survived.
The other dogs were taken to the local animal shelter and have since been reunited with their families. Ziggy and Bowie, however have no family. Ziggy was adopted in 2015 from Westside, and although Bowie was not a Westside alumni, he had no place to go, and the rescue had no intentions of leaving him at the shelter alone. Both dogs are bonded and depend on each other for emotional support.
Both dogs are in need of medical care, and Bowie will need surgery. It is sad to think these two wonderful dogs will not find homes because they are seniors, so please share their stories with friends, family and social media contacts.
We are terrified that no one will want two seniors: these days, everyone wants young dogs, so please spread the word – they just can’t spend their final years in a kennel!
OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO THESE TWO SENIORS
