It had been one of the very hot and humid days of August when dedicated rescuer Faith Easdale had been contacted about a severely neglected and suffering German shepherd dog scavenging for food and barely staying alive on the streets of Jurupa. Neighbors who tried to help, said there had been two dogs running loose, but one had recently been struck by a car and killed.

As volunteers headed out to help, Animal Control had just arrived and transported the shepherd to the county shelter. Of course, in his condition and the absence of any social media attention, no one would step forward to adopt him. Faith, however was adamant she was not about to let the dog die.

What’s a dedicated rescuer to do? Yes, indeed, Faith brought the dog home with her; she named him Valor.

Please read on.
Valor needed veterinarian care and close supervision. No one knew what his past had been, but rescuers look towards the future; no yesterdays and regrets allowed. By mid-September Valor had regained his strength, his health and his beauty. He was ready for a home as soon as his surgery to be neutered could be scheduled.

Sometimes the best laid plans for dogs don’t always work out. Valor needed more confidence and training. Dogs don’t come in “one size fits all.”

Poor Valor went to test out in doggy day care yesterday
I am grateful to Cindy for offering to have him try
And thank you to Jim for taking him but he was just too scared there
He’s so amazing and deserves the best home
This is an example of why we have hard times with larger dogs getting placed
I ask for plans before I rescue
He was urgent and had such a Terrible life before
I personally have him with me
It’s a lot but he was worth it
He eats a ton by the way
And back to Faith this handsome dog went; never a complaint nor ever one word where she wished she hadn’t stepped forward to help Valor. Just one week later, however Valor’s loyalty and gratitude began to shine:

What an amazing perfect dog
My son Told me there was a very strange car parked on our property
The person started walking towards us who owned the car
Valor let him know he was going to protect me
The guy left in a hurry
Faith has taught Valor to sit on command, but she admits, training large dogs is best accomplished by a recognized and capable trainer. Stefano is a two-hour drive, but it’s for Valor’s new life, and he’s worth it!

And this weekend Valor started training. Faith was determined to help this dog overcome his horrific past, and show him his life mattered. He’s been repaying her with his loyalty, and now this treasured German shepherd is enthusiastically being trained and taught, overcoming his fears and rebuilding his confidence. His trainer, Stefano says “he’s brilliant.”
We can’t wait to see how Valor’s future shapes up.
And what’s to believe … there’s not a doubt Faith walks the walk.
