It had been on Tuesday morning when the staff at the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League (BARL) in Massachusetts found a kennel crate outside their front door. Inside the crate was a rain-soaked, shivering dog with a heavy chain attached to a too small collar digging into her neck.
The female German shepherd appeared to be terrified, and sadly it is not known how long she had been left by the door in the storm.
This breaks their hearts and spirits. It does the same to ours. A volunteer arrived at BARL Tuesday morning to find this crate at the gate. It was POURING RAIN. Y’all remember the storm?! We’re not sure how long this terrified girl had been sitting there. She had a chain on her neck, attached to a collar that was way too tight.
The dog didn’t understand. We didn’t understand.
The dog has been named Seraphina and is currently in the care of the organization. She has been examined by a veterinarian and is ready to be adopted.

She’s a beautiful dog and would love to become part of a loving family. Please remember that abandoning a pet is illegal. Just think how you would feel if someone locked you in a kennel and left you outside during a storm. Why should anyone be so cruel as to do such a cruel deed to a sentient creature?

Interested in meeting Seraphina? Please contact the shelter at 601.757.3211.

Anyone with information about the dog, please contact the police.
