In Madison, Wisconsin, a missing horse named Scarlet was found safe on Friday after she went missing on the previous Sunday. The owner of the horse, Serena Falk of Richland Center, stated her horse was found in the middle of the woods near a hiking trail.
Witnesses had reported Scarlet had been crossing a path where she originally took off. It had been hikers who spotted the horse, took a photo of her and reported the horse to a park ranger. That was when Falk was notified and hurried to the location.

According to Stolen Horse International-NetPosse Missing and Stolen Equine, Falk had walked 30 miles, rode another horse for 50 miles for three days searching for her horse who her niece had been riding when the horse took off. The 17-year-old brown mare, with a white diamond shaped star on her forehead, got spooked when her saddle slipped sideways, the rider fell off, and the horse ran away.

Scarlet was reunited with her owner just hours later after the ranger’s report. She was taken to an equine veterinarian, was slightly dehydrated but doing fine.
