In Juarez, Mexico police and firefighters rescued a stray lioness from a neighborhood roof near the Rio Grande on Sunday evening. Residents from Colonia Ampliacion Felipe Angeles reported spotting a large lion walking around the area.
According to Border Report, there had been an earlier report about an escaped lion from an unknown residence. Police arrived at the location and spotted the cat walking along the road, but when she spotted the officers, she ran away, climbed onto the roof and then leaped on top of a wall.

The video posted below shows how firefighters used a ladder and ropes to get the wild animal off the roof and contain her safely to a humane kennel cage. She was taken to a local fire station until the Federal Protection Agency arrived and were able to take custody.
No one has claimed ownership of the lioness or why she had been living in a heavily populated neighborhood. Mexican law requires anyone possessing a dangerous or wild animal to have a permit.
