In Jasper County, Missouri, a young shepherd/husky mix was rescued from a deep sinkhole between Webb City and Carterville on Saturday. A Good Samaritan walking in the area spotted the dog and then called out for help.
According to the Facebook post from the Webb City Animal Control, both Webb City and Carterville firefighters worked together to rescue the dog by descending into the sinkhole. The rescuers put a harness on the dog and lifted him to safety.
The dog suffered minor injuries and is currently being cared for at the Joplin Humane Society.
The dog is not microchipped, but was wearing a blue collar. Anyone with information is asked to contact 417.623.3642 ext. 119.
