Dory is an exceptionally adorable pup living in Maryland after her mom, Sara Ruth adopted her in 2017 from the Humane Rescue Alliance. Dory is deaf, and it first involved some research by Sara Ruth, after falling madly in love with the pup’s “sweet face.”
The 10-year-old pup responds to hand signals, and through the years has learned American Sign Language as well as some regular dog commands done with hands. Meanwhile, Dory does seem to love watching football on television, and there’s no doubt she understands the hand signals from the referees.

No doubt Dory is the biggest football fan in the house, and she definitely puts a smile on our faces.
Deafness in dogs can be congenital or acquired via trauma, drug reactions or old age. Dalmatians and Boxers are the most prevalent breeds to be born deaf, however these dogs are just as smart and just as loving as hearing ones. They can be taught sign language and are able to be fully trained.
Deaf dogs must NEVER be allowed to roam freely unless they are in a secure, fenced yard. There are just too many dangers, and they are not prepared to hear them approaching.
