Behind a strip mall in West Covina, California, two bonded puppies stayed together despite the lousy hand they had been dealt in their short lives. It could only have been a heartless person from their short pasts who abandoned the two little ones in an alley behind the shopping area; there the puppies waited for their owner to return. After all, what do little puppies know?
One of the puppies still wore her little pink collar.

It was Saturday night, and Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, had been getting ready to go to bed when she received a text message from a volunteer member of her team about the puppies. Suddenly, Hall was wide awake; there was no way she could sleep knowing the puppies were there, and the unknown dangers that could be lurking in the alley.

The rescuers drove to the location, and there they were! The workers from the store had made a little bed for them and had given the puppies food and water. They told Hall, the puppies were frequently seen playing with each other – a way to pass the time or just because they didn’t know any other life now. After playing, they would rush to the little makeshift bed left for them and cuddle closely together.

when we got there they seemed so happy that someone had come to help them. We set up gates and Rosario sat on the ground and one jumped into her arms; the other one was too scared, but he kept trying so hard to trust.
All the puppies really wanted was to be safe and find a friend to help. The women sat with the puppies until the little guys felt secure enough, and soon the two were back together.

It’s doubtful these little ones could have survived on their own, but being together surely made a difference. Now they are safe, and will go on to find homes and live happily ever after.

Many thanks to Suzette Hall and Rosario Ortiz for always doing their best to make a difference. Just look at the photos of the puppies – how their lives will change now, and all for the better.
