The Clark Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help obtaining information about nine puppies abandoned inside a five-gallon bucket along the side of the road in Clark on Thursday night.

According to the police department’s Facebook page, the puppies were left on Raritan Road and Frances Drive and found about 4:15 p.m. after a Good Samaritan alerted the police as reported by the Associated Humane Society (AHS). The puppies were brought to the police station and then turned over to the AHS.

One of the puppies had already died by the time he arrived at the rescue organization. The other eight were freezing, starving, severely dehydrated and infested with fleas. They are estimated to be no more than two weeks of age and currently in intensive care.
Jerry Rosenthal, CEO of the Associated Humane Societies stated they were prepared to help:

The veterinary staff prepared for intake, while one of our shelter managers stepped up to foster these critical puppies in her home. Their condition is serious, but we’re doing everything we can to give them the chance they deserve.
Donations are needed. Please click here to help.
Anyone with information about the puppies, please contact the Clark Police Department at 732.388.3434.
