The Pitt County Animal Services located in Greenville, North Carolina accidentally euthanized a woman’s beloved dog and after apologizing for the heartbreaking incident calling it “human error” has made changes to its protocol.
The shelter will now contact the owner of the pet to verify their pet recovery plan, regardless of what is listed on the shelter’s paperwork.

The two year old dog was taken into custody on January 22, 2023 and placed on a 10 day bite quarantine. Through human error, the owner’s desire for the dog to be returned was incorrectly entered into the computer system.

Destiny Daniels, the owner of two-year-old dog, Kaos was devastated after finding out her dog was accidentally killed. On the morning Kaos was removed from her home, Daniels had made a 911 call after walking in on her niece and Kaos in an emergency. While trying to feed the dog, the three-year-old child had been bitten.
“If my dog would’ve just passed away by natural causes, that would’ve been okay with me but I already know he was in there for ten days, scared, not knowing anyone, and just for y’all to put him down…”
Destiny posted the story on TikTok stating that animal control did not force her to send her dog to be placed in quarantine, and that she did that just to make sure no one, including the young child, could be harmed.

Absolutely disgusting. No amount of apologies can “make this right”…… whoever was responsible for the computer error and the subsequent euthanasia without checking it with the pet’s owner should be terminated for negligence and incompetence…….
