Watching ‘Ella’ give up at Miami shelter so heartbreaking as she waits with her broken soul

Sweet “Ella” has been at Miami-Dade Animal Services since October 2022 – nearly 180 days. When she first entered the shelter, she was calm and sweet and seemed to always be on the alert, concentrating and looking straight ahead – as if waiting for her person to arrive at any moment and take her home.

And now, Ella seems to have given up. Volunteers are heartbroken; as they lead her out of her shelter enclosure and out into the sunshine of a Florida afternoon, Ella just sits down with a “broken soul.”

Her family never came back for her. There are no words to explain this heartbreaking situation yet a photo speaks for itself.

Ella is about six-years-old and weighs 51 pounds. She continues to be calm and sweet and does well with other calm dogs.

Check out a few of her videos:

It is sad that everyone who comes to the shelter looking to adopt, just overlooks Ella.
