Just last week, the Monee Police in Illinois found King tied outside of a Burger King with a note paper clipped to his collar.

Police tried to find the dog’s owner before bringing him to the South Suburban Humane Society in Matteson, but at the time had little luck. The dog’s photo and the note were posted on social media, and animal advocates and followers of the animal protection organization sadly wondered what had happened that someone had to abandon their dog?
It was the next day the dog’s owner arrived at the shelter. The woman told the staff she had suffered a major medical issue and had moved back in with her family. She had been trying to get back on her feet. A family member had taken and abandoned her dog without her knowledge; the woman was devastated. She brought all of the dog’s food, toys and treats; it had been a tearful conversation coming to realize this woman loved her dog dearly.
And now King is back with his owner. When the woman had arrived at the shelter, she explained she didn’t have a home where she and her dog could live, and instead of turning their backs on the woman who truly loved her dog, volunteers and staff started working on a place where both could call home.
For the interim, a foster mom cared for the dog, and after a week King was back at the shelter all ready to be reunited with his owner.
We have some amazing news – King and his mom are reunited! She was able to find some temporary living arrangements where she could bring him and we were overjoyed to reunited them today. She knows that we are here for a lifetime of support.
