Near Downtown Los Angeles, in Southgate, a small defeated, defenseless, injured and frightened dog had the worst day of his life on Saturday. He was witnessed being dragged down the sidewalk, tied with a rope by a person suspected to have been high on drugs or intoxicated.

A Good Samaritan ordered the man to release the dog, however instead of following through with a call to the local Animal Control, the person left the dog behind. And, that’s exactly the spot where the dog stayed for the next 24 hours. He still waited for his person to return.

Suzette Hall, the founder of a small rescue group Logan’s Legacy 29 arrived, and when she saw him and approached, the ailing pup barely moved. Fearing for his life, she slowly kneeled beside him, assured the frightened dog she was there to help, and with the aid of another volunteer was able to safely place him in a humane trap.

And it has been something very special about this dog according to Hall. In 2018, Suzette’s son Logan Hall, 18, died after waking up in the middle of the night and stating it was hard for him to breathe. The young baseball pitcher had just helped his team win the game they played against another school; there had been no signs of anything wrong. To honor her son and his deep affection for lost, stray and unwanted pets, Suzette has tirelessly been rescuing those in need.

When your heart is broken, when all you know is abuse, when you were dragged down the street by a rope. You are going to be scared, traumatized.

these are the ones my Logan loved the most, the ones who need love and to be held.

And in his memory I have named this sweet baby Loganberry.

Loganberry still shakes in fear; his past still rings the horrors of his abuse. He is currently under veterinarian care and continues to require treatment.
