At the Carson Animal Care in California, two-year-old Ace was surrendered by his owner on Monday. He’s a bit underweight, and the shelter is giving him extra food to feel better.

He was so hungry he really enjoyed his food – you could see it all over his nose.

Ace had been an indoor family member and is housetrained, so he’s ready to be adopted. He does need cherry eye surgery which is a common term for prolapse of the third eyelid gland. Treatment involves surgical replacement of the third eyelid, and the sooner the surgery is done, the better his chances to minimize permanent damage to the eye or eyelid gland. In most cases, surgery is successful.
