Saint Bernard bit stranger who tried to get into her doghouse

Don’t mess with a Saint Bernard named Betty White, and don’t think you can just trespass into her doghouse without permission. And that’s the message the Saint Bernard from Lincoln Park, Michigan wants uninvited guests to know.

According to the News Herald, last weekend, a trespasser tried to enter Betty’s doghouse, and she wasn’t having it – she bit the person in the hand. Now, to put the incident in perspective, one can easily see just how large Betty White is, and therefore a run of the mill average-sized dog house would likely not do the trick. So to keep Betty White comfortable, since her breed so loves the cold weather, but needs shelter when she occasionally wants to experience the snow and cuddle up and snooze outdoors or maybe just wants some private time, her owner Blake Ramos built her, her own house to accommodate her size.

And it’s therefore important, while we continue with this unusual story, that the dog’s house is about the size of a shed. It has a regular sized door that needs to be opened by a person and is normally kept locked until Betty White wants to use it, but the extended cold spell froze the lock, and the door to the dog’s house had been left open.

Soooooo … in walks this man who thinks he might be on a less than honest hunt for valuables or even a place to stay out of the weather, and there’s Betty White.

Come to find out a guy is trying to break into homes and he messed with the wrong house and got to meet my dog, and (she) bit his hand.

Ramos contacted authorities who arrived at his home; police told him they had arrested an intoxicated man in a public park who had been bleeding from his hand.

According to Ramos, the man was homeless and was later taken to a shelter where Ramos helps out providing food to the homeless.

And before anyone makes a fuss out of Betty White having a dog house in freezing cold Michigan, let me add some of the details. Her doghouse is heated, and in that shed, she has a couch and a television!

We have all been assured, however that Betty White is a friendly pup, so as long as you’re invited to the Ramos house, you likely will be greeted with some sloppy St. Bernard loving kisses.
