The Toronto Humane Society is hoping to reunite an abandoned dog with its owner after the dog was left in the Davenport area on April 3, with a heartbreaking note stating the owner could no longer afford the dog.

The dog, Max, who will be four-years-old in June, was found at the Primrose Avenue Parkette on Monday. His owner described the dog as “good with kids,” “smart,” and “a good boy.” The owner stated he could no longer care for his dog after losing his home and his job.

According to the humane society’s Facebook page, the handwritten note tells them the owner truly cares for his dog and wants the very best.

The rescue organization does have a lead on the identity of the owner and are hoping to help the family be reunited. Meanwhile, Max will be temporarily placed with a foster family until his family is able to support themselves and their dog.

The Toronto Humane Society sponsors an Urgent Care program which provides for temporary care for pets, giving their owners the chance to cope with their hardships while still being assured their beloved pets are safe.
