In Las Vegas, a three-month-old piglet got lucky! And hence his name is “Lucky”, and here’s his amazing story. It was just a few days ago when Lucky fell off a truck and tumbled multiple times down the side of a highway. It had also been Good Samaritans who witnessed what happened and who quickly pulled over to save the little guy’s life.

According to All Friends Animal Sanctuary, it had been on Thursday when Lars Gradel, Rebecca Zajac and her son had been driving along I-215 in Las Vegas when they saw the tiny piglet fall out of the truck. They immediately pulled over, thinking the piglet must have been badly injured since the truck had been speeding along at 60 miles per hour, and the piglet had rolled over several times before he landed on the side of the road. Surprisingly enough, the little guy was fine, the family picked him up and wrapped the shocked little guy in a towel and brought the 18-pound survivor to the the vet who guessed his age as between 8 to 12 weeks.

Lucky had just recently been weaned from his mother and didn’t even know how to drink water on his own. He had been headed to a “fattening facility” where he would be fed a lot of food, and in six to eight months would have been herded onto another truck; and this time would have been headed to slaughter.

For the weekend, Lucky spent his time in the family’s backyard before they were able to contact the All Friends Animal Sanctuary. After being in quarantine, he will join another pig at the sanctuary named Mister Picklesworth. Lucky will probably grow to 800 pounds or so, but instead of becoming someone’s breakfast bacon, he will spend his life rolling in mud after a good rainstorm, rooting around looking for pig like treats and be treated like royalty – just as it should be.

Meanwhile, his rescuers will be able to visit Lucky, and what a cool family they are!

Live a long and happy life Lucky.

We wish all those on that truck were as “lucky”, so Lucky is now an ambassador and survivor, representing those who weren’t able to be saved. They are always family and friends, never food.
