In Orange County, Florida, the Orange County Animal Services is hosting a special adoption event just for Nicholas on Saturday. They have named the day “PICK NICK.”

The three-year-old pup who weighs a solid 67 pounds, is the shelter’s longest resident at 95 days and is by far – one of the most popular and loving pooches at the shelter. He just needs to find the perfect family.

Nicholas came to the shelter as a stray on December 18, 2022, and therefore little is known of his past. Being at the shelter for so long however, has been a great way to really get to know this young and happy pup. He loves playing with toys, easily leashed and walked, loves treats and loves to learn.

So…. on Saturday, Nicholas gets to be the star. He gets to stand and pose at the front of the line and hopes to find his person.

And this is Nicholas:

We want everyone to see Nicholas the way we see him. We want them to see the playful pup, the sweetness, the yearning for attention. The yearning for love. The Nicholas that we see, and everyone else just seems to miss. Three years old, 70lbs, all wiggle and love. Nicholas loves affection, loves his belly rubs, love his ears scratched and loves to be around people.

Unfortunately what Nicholas doesn’t love is other dogs. Does this make him less adoptable? We don’t believe that for a second. He doesn’t need to be fixed. He doesn’t need to be changed. Nicholas just needs to be loved.

Diane Summers, the manager for Orange County Animal Services, is hoping that Saturday’s event will be the special time that Nicholas doesn’t have to watch the other dogs going to their new homes, but will be a new beginning for him in a home where he is truly loved.

His adoption fee is $55. He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and is ready to jump into the front seat of the car and go home.

Interested? Nicholas (A505387). The event will take place during the shelter’s adoption hours which are 10 a.m. through 6 p.m.
