In Idaho, the local fire department had to rescue a family dog from a tree this week; yep you’re reading it correctly – it was a dog!

Well, definitely not a cat in a tree. Caldwell Fire and Caldwell Police responded to a dog stuck in a tree, this afternoon. After much coaxing, the canine was brought safely to the ground. Perhaps, he will not be so persistent, next time, in chasing squirrels.

The dog named Izzy had been hot in pursuit on the fluffy tail of a squirrel, and even though the pooch’s owner told media, the dog wasn’t even close to apprehending the fuzzy critter, he somehow ran up the tree thinking he had this covered.

Now how often are there dogs up in trees that have to be rescued by the fire department? The answer is hardly ever, but never underestimate our canine pals.

Not so long ago,  Lathrop Manteca Fire District in California, received a call about a German Shepherd stuck in a tree after chasing a cat. It turned out, Baby the German Shepherd had chased the cat to the top of a tree. Neither had anywhere to go.

Firefighters had to use a ladder to rescue Baby. They also tried to rescue the cat, but he was having no part of anyone’s drama and later was reported to have climbed down the tree itself.

Happily, no animals – wild or domestic were injured. And let’s not forget our brave firemen – all safe and indeed our heroes.
