In San Antonio, Texas, Bridges the cat is recovering from her harrowing experience after being rescued from the ledge of an interstate overpass on Friday.

According to the City of San Antonio Animal Services, Animal Care Officer Tutak and Animal Care Sergeant Flores responded to an emergency call about a cat trapped on an overpass with no way to escape. When the officers arrived, they found the cat on the ledge and approached very slowly so as not to scare the cat into jumping.

Her rescuers named the cat Bridges, and although the cat wasn’t completely buying into the need to trust these people, she didn’t protest as the officer carefully picked her up and wrapped her in a towel – just in case she protested with her claws.

The officers brought Bridges to the Animal Emergency Room (AER) for a physical examination since no one had been sure how long the cat had been precariously perched on the ledge with no food or water. She was very hungry and suffers from an upper respiratory infection which is currently being treated at the ACS where she has become quite a news sensation.

Bridges is available for adoption. Click here for more information.

Many thanks to the officers for being heroes.
