A 14-month-old toddler named Axel had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. The baby’s difficult journey began with a month-long hospital stay plus countless complications. Since Axel was not able to be with his pets at home, his parents had been bringing videos and updates; all of that truly made the youngster smile.

According to PetcoLove, after months of treatment, Axel went into remission. His parents thought a pet of his own would help him look forward to the days ahead as his recovery progressed. Coincidentally, a family friend had sent a photo of kittens available for adoption at Whiskers TNR of Warren County, and Axel’s parents, Haley and Chad Martin, adopted the kitten now named Bingo. Little did the family or Axel even know this special kitten would change the family’s life.

From the moment Bingo met Axel, the two bonded, and it was as if the two had been friends forever, but mind you Axel was a toddler and Bingo – just a kitten. On days when Axel wasn’t feeling well from his chemo treatments, Bingo was by the little boy’s side, and as the hospital stays continued, Axel and Bingo were ecstatic to be reunited.

Their connection is a simply magical. From playing to eating, dancing to cuddling, the two are truly inseparable. All hours of the day, you’ll find them together stirring up trouble somewhere. Bingo has truly changed Axel’s life and is teaching him both love and patience… We can’t thank Whiskers TNR of Warren County enough for giving Bingo a chance at life and our little boy the best emotional support friend he could have.

Now Axel is cancer-free at two-years-old and remains on the chemo maintenance plan. The two still spend much of their time together.
