After spending more than 763 days in a San Diego animal shelter, our hearts are breaking because a dog named October still waits for a new home.

According to the Animal Pad, there have been no successful adoption opportunities for the sweet pit bull. A viral clip shared on TikTok earlier this month showed October on the first day he arrived at the shelter and then – a most recent photo of him still in the shelter, seemingly losing hope he will ever leave or find that perfect human to love.

Check it out:

October is our only long term dog that has never gotten an adoption application. He is looking for a foster or adoptive home as the only pet. October is crate and potty trained. He loves people, playing fetch, and toys. Currently located in San Diego, CA at The Animal Pad. #fosterme #rescue #animalrescue #dogrescue #fyp #rescuedogsoftiktok #adoptme #transformation #fosteringsaveslives #rescuedog

October was rescued, along with a group of other dogs from Mexico, and he sure was wiggly and enthusiastic to find a wonderful family when he arrived. In February 2021, he had been one of 12 dogs rescued who suffered from severe mange; each dog was named after a month of the year.

And now – more than two years later, the sweet boy just languishes in his kennel snuggling up to his blanket as if he has lost all hope.

It seems that October had never received an adoption application, and who could imagine how he must have felt as all the other dogs were collared and leashed and went home to their new homes – still October waited.

So let’s give October some more airtime. He is crate and potty trained. He loves people and loves to play fetch. He does get overwhelmed when other dogs get too close, but he is working on staying calm; thus the perfect home for October would be in one as the only pet.

The viral video has garnered more than 1.6 million views and 264,000 likes on TikTok.

According to the rescue organization, there had been a person very interested in October, but sadly that didn’t work out. Social media, however can do the task – please share October’s plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
