As we treasure the “golden years” with our beloved four-legged companions, life, as they know it, becomes so much more confusing when their humans unexpectedly pass away, leaving them behind with no familiar family members to help ease them through their loneliness, confusion and pain.

Fortunately for three seniors, Young At Heart Senior Pet Adoptions, located in Woodstock, Illinois, stepped up to help. In February, seniors Jack, Maverick and Cooper arrived.

Because of people in the community choosing to care for and work together to help three orphaned dogs, yesterday Jack (13 years), Maverick (13 years), and Cooper (22 years) came to the safe haven of Young at Heart.

These three boys have had their whole world turned upside down. They lived a quiet life with their mom, so even just the ride to the adoption center was quite an adventure for them. As they are settling in, the boys seem to annoy each other far more than they enjoy each other, so we don’t think any of them are bonded to the other.

Of course, the seniors Jack (13 years), Maverick (13 years), and Cooper (22 years) came to the safe haven of Young at Heart needing veterinary care, including bloodwork, urinalysis, neuters, dentals with extractions, fistula repairs and several other medical needs between them. At 22 years of age, Cooper is amazingly healthy for someone with such senior status and would make everyone’s heart sing if he could find a terrific home to spend his golden years.

Perhaps the most heartwarming video clip of Cooper and his incredible energy and loving spirit has been posted on TikTok by @youngatheartspets; which has quickly garnered more than 1.3 million views.

Hi, I’m Cooper, and yes – I’m 22 years old! I ended up at Young at Heart after my mom passed away unexpectedly. Everyone is really nice here, but an old boy like me sure would love a quiet forever home and loving family to spoil me silly for the rest of my days. If you live within 150 miles of Woodstock, IL, fill out an adoption application and come meet me! #yah_cooper #adoptseniordogs #seniordogsoftiktok #seniordog #seniordogsneedlovetoo #fyp #seniordog #youngatheart

Rest assured everyone; Cooper is receiving the best of care. There have been a number of adoption applications submitted, and we can’t wait to see this boy in his new home.
