13-years old and at her most important time of need, pup’s family deserted her

Why didn’t Polly’s family want her? After all, she is 13-years-old and needed her owners the most, but right before Valentine’s Day, Polly was surrendered to the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys, California.

According to the shelter notes, Polly has been listed on the “blue alert” list, and her health advisory notes describe the senior rat terrier as having a serious 3/6 systolic heart murmur, severe periodontal diseases, bilateral cataracts forming, ruptured adenoma or a possible cyst on left flank “oozing purulent material.” She only weighs nine pounds and is in desperate need of help.
