In Charlotte County, Florida, a woman has been accused of starving her dog to death. Brianna Ann-Marie Sainvil told investigators she used Google to diagnose her dog with heartworms, but never took him to a veterinarian.

According to NbcNews, the puppy had not been seen by veterinarian since receiving his initial vaccinations in June; the puppy died in December. Sainvil, 18, has been charged with animal abandonment for failing to provide the necessary sustenance.

Neighbors stated they thought something had been wrong with the 11-month-old puppy, named Drake, who seemed to be quite skinny. One neighbor told authorities she had found the dog running loose, and when she returned Drake to his yard, she noticed how dirty the dog’s cage was with feces everywhere and not even a water bowl for the pup.

A necropsy was ordered to be performed on Drake, and it was determined the puppy had no real health concerns that caused him to die other than having been starved to death.

“There was no absolute obvious medical condition such as any sort of congenital defects or anything to explain that type of death, outside of starvation,
