A veterinary hospital in Ohio is mourning the loss of their beloved support dog, Roland. The cherished pitbull helped comfort staff and animals at the Gahanna Animal Hospital and his departure leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

On January 7, the animal hospital let the public know that cancer had taken Roland’s life:

It is with great sadness that we report Roland, our team’s favorite coworker, crossed the rainbow bridge last night with his mom, Carly, and two little girls by his side. Roland was diagnosed with prostate cancer on May 1st and given 6 months.

Roland beat the odds he had been given, living nine months instead of the predicted six. The animal hospital explained the comfort that Roland provided, writing:

He was always there for our staff when we needed comfort during a long day. He helped raise and socialize puppies and kittens, and he showed other animals that being at the vet can be a positive experience! He recovered surgery patients, laying next to them to provide extra body heat. He was such a calming and supportive presence.

Expressing sorrow for the loss of the treasured pooch who gave so much, to so many:

We will all miss him more than words can explain. Our hearts break for Carly as she grieves the loss of the most amazing companion. Roland will forever be remembered and his memory honored at Gahanna Animal Hospital.

  1. And………..this is why pitt bulls are called “Nanny Dogs” they take care and watch over others. There are no bad dogs only bad owners.
