Less than one week ago, “Spring” was found by an employee of Villalobos Rescue Center – Life 4 Paws in New Orleans sitting in the middle of the main highway that runs through Assumption Parish. The dog was covered in more than 100 bite wounds, likely the result of a staged dog fight based on the area known for dog fighting where she was discovered.
Spring was rushed to the organization’s partner veterinarian, and the dog’s prognosis seemed rather grim. Surely her past must have been grueling, but somehow she escaped, and since then it has been a fight for her life. Besides her severe infections from old and new bites, she was also in kidney failure.
SPRING UPDATE: She made it through the night but she is “crashing” She needs a blood transfusion and her kidneys are failing. We are currently trying to get her transferred to a different vet that is set up to handle this. At the same time, a large group of Pit Bulls is getting confiscated out here in Assumption Parish. Somehow Spring decided her life was worth fighting for, and her condition has continued to improve. No one, including the veterinarians treating her, thought she would survive.

This is what the monsters do with old females when they are no longer giving them puppies. They use them for bait them dump them to die. If they made dog fighting a mandatory 10 years in prison and actually stopped dog fighting we would see dogs like this sweet girl.
