Update on ‘Gentle Ben’ saddest senior left tied to a pole at humane organization

The Harbor Humane Society in West Oliver, Michigan is still hoping to speak to the individual who left a senior dog tied to a pole on Sunday night. Video footage showed the person arriving with the dog shortly after the humane organization closed for the evening.

Gentle Ben, as he has been named, was discovered in the morning as staff arrived. He was examined by the organization’s partner veterinary support, and it is estimated as between 10 and 12 years of age.

Everyone is working with Gentle Ben to make sure he is receiving all the medical care he needs, and at the same time enjoying the kisses and treats from the staff. He will soon be heading to a foster home with one of the staff, and it is expected Gentle Ben is looking forward to couch time.

Please be reminded, that the Harbor Humane Society is definitely a support system and a resource for people needing help with their pets. Please don’t just abandon a pet or leave them tied up. Background information on the pet can be very helpful, and sometimes there are options to helping people and their pets stay together.

Donations help go towards the care of Ben and the other 382 animals that are currently in Harbor Humane’s care. This includes over 180 kittens in foster and close to 30 dogs and puppies in foster.
