In the outskirts of Houston, a loyal dog bravely stayed with her companion on the side of a busy road after the one dog had been struck by a car. For what seemed like hours and hours, while the dog suffered from her severe injuries, no one did anything to help. Everyone just drove by.
Their heartbreaking photo quickly went viral after animal rescuer and advocate Leslie Hennings called for help:
We were completely heartbroken at the sight of this photo … the life of strays. They truly rely on each other and love each other. We had to help. We are shocked (but grateful) she didn’t get hit again.

S.N.A.R.R Animal Rescue Northeast saw the plea and immediately stepped forward. The injured dog, named Fergie, suffered head trauma and spinal bruising. She spent four days in the intensive care section of the veterinarian hospital and has now moved on to a foster home.
The spinal bruising has caused Fergie not to be able to use her left two legs, but it is hoped with time for the swelling to go down and physical therapy, she will regain full function of her limbs.
Today, Fergie isn’t feeling well and isn’t eating, and if this continues she will be seeing the neurologist and going back to the hospital tomorrow.
