Two backcountry skiers rescued a dog that had become buried in several feet of snow after an avalanche occurred in Colorado. The dog, Apollo had been missing for more than 20 minutes and feared he had disappeared.

Reports say Apollo had triggered the slide and wound up being swept over a cliff and through several trees before disappearing into the deep snow. According to AbcNews, the men were about to give up when one spotted a nose sticking out of the snow. They frantically began to dig into the deep snow with their hands and shovels and it wasn’t long before they had uncovered Apollo.

Apollo’s owner was very grateful for the help. And the best news; except for an injured leg and being cold, Apollo is fine.
