A German shepherd described as “sweet, smart, and gentle” has been given his 72-hour notice at a busy California animal control agency. The five-year-old dog, dubbed Butler, was picked up as a stray back in March, and though it is clear that he had an owner, nobody came to get him.
Butler’s advocate writes of her interaction with him:
I use to be able to go and take out the same dog all the time. I would have a favorite. But it’s ridiculous how many precious dogs that need exposure too. Butler would be one of those dogs, I would take out all the time. He is a good boy. Not high energy. Will lay down in the yard. He sticks by you when you walk, he is not too big.
She adds:
He’s shy and gentle, such a lovely #germanshepherd… he explored the yard a little bouncy and just stunning. He would make a very loyal and loving #gsdlove. 💗 I think he would be a great #gsd for a #gsdlover who has experience with the breed, but not necessarily a expert.
Butler didn’t ask to be locked up. Butler didn’t ask to be homeless. Butler most certainly does not want to die. Please help him find a family who will love and appreciate the wonderful dog that he is! German shepherds are faithful, emotional, intelligent and devoted companions.
