Meet Big Poppa who is in a “big jam” and is hoping to find that special someone who can get him out of the Brooklyn’s New York City Animal Care Center before noon on Friday when he is scheduled to be euthanized.

The dramatic irony in this tragic story began when Big Poppa had been left in his family’s dark basement to die – no food or water, but fortunately he was rescued and sent to the shelter. During his initial assessment, he was a great pooch – he was affectionate, relinquished his toy when ordered and explored the room wagging his tail.

We know he loved sitting next to his volunteer resting his head on her feet, accepting gentle pets as he watched the world go by. And we do know it seems he might be saving his innermost heart and his deepest love for the lucky family who welcomes him home.

Sadly, Big Poppa now seems overwhelmed in the shelter environment and has been reported to be spinning in circles and lifting up the covers on his kennel gutters – signs of high stress levels.

Big Poppa is only three-years-old and has been dealt a lousy hand. Please share and help him find a new home.
