A cattle dog named Max is hoping that someone will find him at the Harris County Pets facility in Texas. Max was surrendered by an unkind owner who was bold enough to strike him repeatedly with a leash while in the shelter lobby when he was being surrendered. Houston Saves Lives is Our Mission writes:
Max came on December 7, 2021. His owner said “HE ESCAPES”. Max can’t talk. He was brought with a “cheap” collar & leash (plastic ones) Since he was barking at everyone in the lobby, his owner hit him over and over with the leash to try to stop him 😠 He didn’t care it was in front of everyone! Max was scared: unfamiliar dogs and people. He knew something bad was happening.

The poor boy was panicked. When Max and his owner entered the shelter, I was told the officer ask the owner “If he has more dogs at home”. He said NO. The officer replied saying “if he brings another one in the future, he will use same kind of collar and put on his neck!” The officer was really upset. Everyone who witnessed the owner’s mistreatment of sweet Max was angry.
Fast forward to February – Max is still at the same shelter, waiting for someone kind to adopt him. Please share Max’s adoption information and help him find a good home.
