A shelter’s plea to find a “special home” for a frightened German shepherd named Marley has been met with an enthusiastic response. On Tuesday morning, the Stafford County Animal Shelter posted a photo of the two-year-old dog, along with an explanation about why he needs help.

We are looking for a very special home for our two year old boy named Marley. Marley is not doing well at the shelter. He is VERY scared of new people and completely out of his element.

Marley’s former family surrendered him to the shelter because they traveled too much, and the sensitive dog did not handle it well.

But there is good news – many people are interested in giving Marley a new home. On Wednesday, the shelter said:

DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED (OVER 200) WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW APPLICATIONS AS OF 7am THIS MORNING.
For those who applied, we will be reviewing these applications over the next week. Thank you for applying 😊

Best of luck Marley! May your next home be filled with love and commitment.
